Amazing Race: Hypocrites and ugly Americans

Last night’s Amazing Race proved that leaving the country brings out the worst in Americans. The teams left New Orleans for Panama. Once they arrived, several teams broke out their lame Spanlish and start shouting “Vamanos!” and “Andelay!” at every driver they encounter. Now think for a minute people. Do you really want your interactions with the Panamanians to be based on a Speedy Gonzalez cartoon? How embarrassing.

Speaking of embarrassing, how about little DJ Paolo crying like a baby during the bungie jump? Or how about Mama Gagan running into a minivan, while she was running?

The worst part of last night’s episode was again the Weavers. They are challenging the Paolo’s for the least likeable team. First they tried to tell another team’s driver to slow down, which I don’t think would work, but it is rude anyway. Then during the baseball Road Block, the Linz team started a little trash talk when Rolly was at bat. Mommy Weaver got rather upset that they weren’t encouraging little Rolly. Can you say hypocrite? Add this to the list of her other attributes, Jesus freak (praying out loud every 10 seconds for Jesus’ assistance with the mundane details of life) and moron (she thought that Lake Pontchartrain was one of the Great Lakes).

Anyway, the Paolo’s manage to win a leg of the race. Their prize? Travelocity will be paying for all their group therapy. The Godlewski’s come in last and luck out that this is a nonelimination leg.
