Worst Week Ever
In the words of Comic Book Store Man, this has been the worst week ever. OK, maybe not that bad.
Sunday
After my folks left I noticed I was feeling a little feverish. It didn’t take long for this develop into fullblown fever and chills and bodyaches. I figured I was catching the flu.
Monday
I went to work even though I was still feeling bad. It wasn’t so bad that I couldn’t sit at a desk for 8 hours. The fever and chills had improved. As the day wore on I started feeling a headache growing. By that that evening the headache was pretty intense. That night I get only about 2 hours of sleep from the headache.
Tuesday
I felt worse on Tuesday. The headache was pretty constant, the fever and chills seemed to have returned and the lack of sleep was driving me crazy. I stayed home from work and mostly laid in bed all day. I took tylenol all day and at night I tried some NyQuil. Nothing seemed to help the headache. In the evening I realized I must have a sinus infection. That night I got about 2 hours of sleep.
Wednesday
Diana called and made a doctor’s appointment for me in the morning. I was feeling about the same. The doctor said I have the flu, a sinus infection and bronchitis. Joy. He prescibed me Erythromycin and Tylenol 3. I took the first dose of both at 3pm with food. The Tylenol 3 seemed to fix my headache pretty quickly. I layed down and rested for a couple of hours. Around 6pm I realized I was really nauseous. I went the bathroom and tried to throw up. I couldn’t get anything to come up. I went into Sophie’s room where Diana was to ask her to get me more water and the next thing I know Diana is looking down at me and yelling at her folks to call 911. Apparently I passed out and fell to the floor with a loud thump. The EMTs arrived very quickly. My hands and feet were very numb and tingly. My hands were sort of bent into a weird position and I couldn’t move them. They got me in the ambulance and took me to Trinity West. My blood pressure in the ambulance 100/60. In the ER they pumped me full fluids and ran a bunch of tests. The prognosis, vasovagal syncope, or passing out from low blood pressure. I was also hypohydrated, one step away from being dehydrated. They changed my antobiotic to amoxicillin and sent me home. I felt better for having the fluids replenished.
Thursday
So far I’m feeling better today, though I am still a little weak. My head still hurts, though some of that may be from thumping it on the floor last night. I got about 1-2 hours of sleep last night but I think that will change soon. Tom and Judy were supposed to leave today, but have decided stay a little while longer just in case, which we all appreciate. I’ve been quarantined from Sophie and Diana as much as possible so they don’t get sick. Not having my girls around me has been the toughest part.
